Due to the extension of the adaptation period and simplification of the number of gasoholes and gasoline for automotive use until January 1, 2023, a more orderly migration to the new types is expected: regular and premium, for the benefit of the end user.
In this sense, the simplification of fuels represents greater efficiency for the market and will offer the consumer better quality and price.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) highlighted that this measure to simplify the types of gasoline and gasoholes contributes to order the fuel market, improve air quality by mitigating the impact that polluting emissions from the vehicle fleet generate to the detriment of human health and, consequently, contribute to the fulfillment of the State’s duty to promote general well-being and safeguard the quality of life of citizens.
The energy and hydrocarbons expert, Erick García, stated that simplification saves operating costs and reduces its effects on the environment, such as reducing the carbon footprint, which represents the total volume of greenhouse gases produced by economic and daily activities. of the human being
In the same way, the specialist explains that synergies between the competent authorities are required to promote this rule that benefits the population, including INDECOPI, which is the authority that must ensure the efficiency of the fuel service offered to citizens and the Ministry of the Environment since simplification has positive impacts on the environment.
